Each shopping mall has its set of pros and cons. While Uptown Bonifacio doesn’t have a wide assortment of retail stores at the moment, it still offers some compelling reasons for people to take a trip to the north side of BGC. Here are the top 5:

1. The Cinemas

Uptown is a good place to catch the latest movies. For starters, getting a ticket is easier because it isn’t as crowded as the other malls. Plus they even have screenings at midnight or after-midnight for selected movies! It’s great when you can’t wait to watch the latest blockbuster (true story: my friend and I watched the 3 am screening of Captain America: Civil War and the sun was out by the time we left the movie). If you want the best moviegoing experience, you might want to check out their comfortable and spacious VIP cinema, with unlimited popcorn + water or soda/softdrinks (speaking of popcorn, the only flavor worth getting is sour cream, IMHO). Just bear in mind that their ticket prices vary, depending on the theater (You can book a pair of tickets ahead of time at blockbusterseats.com, but only if you’re willing to go through the tedious registration process). The most important thing you need to know: BRING A JACKET OR SWEATER! It’s freezing cold inside the theaters.

2. The Restaurant Selection

Both Uptown Mall and Uptown Parade (another group of restaurants and bars across the street from the mall) have a lot of restaurants to choose from. Popular restaurants include Melt Grilled Cheesery (an obvious MUST for cheese lovers), Sweet Ecstasy (their burgers are famously delicious), Naxional Diner (a rare South American joint in Manila), Buffalo Wild Wings (the best place to watch a big sports game), Tim Ho Wan (for when you’re craving dim sum and pork buns), and The Brewery at the Palace (a good spot for watching live music, especially on Tuesday Acousteoke night).

3. The Free WIFI

Free mall-wide WIFI all day. Enough said.

If you’re looking for signs of life past midnight, there are two places to go to in BGC. One is The Fort Strip, the other one is Uptown Parade, where you can find four popular destinations side by side: The Palace Pool Club, Valkyrie, Revel, and The Brewery.

While the parking area isn’t the easiest to navigate (and it takes forever to exit after watching a movie), you’re guaranteed to find an available parking space either in the mall or at Uptown Parade–something that’s elusive in other parts of Bonifacio Global City.

What else have you discovered in Uptown Bonifacio?
